No significant changes were made to any of the S Class until 1930, when they were all rebuilt at Caerphilly, with GWR Standard 10 superheated taper boilers and GWR bunkers. At the same time, No 611 (RR No 114) was fitted with a high roofed cab.
In 1946 the were renumbered by British Railways as Nos 93-96. They were finally broken up in 1953 and 1954 at Swindon.
