The 45 Class was very similar to the Rhymney Railway P Class with 5' 0" driving wheels for use on passenger services.
Purchased in two lots of three in 1915 Nos 45-47 and 1921 numbers 48-50. All were supplied with a parrallel boiler and round top firebox.
Notable features were round top tanks, stepped in cab, front sand boxes on the footplate, round cab windows and bunker coal rails.
After grouping the GWR renumber these to 1372-5 and 1668/70. Most were rebuilt with a standard No10 tappered boiler, square riveted tanks, extended bunker and other GWR fittings. (Rebuilt kit to follow 88D-11G)
